ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1070 Ti STRIX-GTX1070TI-8G-GAMING 8GB
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200
EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
500gb sony green ssd
2tb seagate HD
Cooler Master Stryker Case

Other Hardware
Cooler Master rgb L keyboard cherry mx reds
Logitech g403 mouse
logitech mouse pad
Logitech g933 headset
Blue Snowball mic (I already had this mic)
Dell Gaming S2417DG Monitor (2560x1440p, 144hz, g-sync)

Had a buddy of mine make a custom desk that should be done thursday. I will post a picture of everything once my setup is complete.
All together the computer cost me about $1750 and everything else was about $700 so I am hopefully gonna be pretty satisfied with how everything turns out. Lemme know what you guys think. I plan to do some overclocking and I've read that the i5 is pretty damn beast at OC and can run 4.5-5ghz pretty cool. I'm just super excited to finally have a proper setup! Hope you guys had a great christmas!

Nice build, you should have gotten the I7 7700k quad core that runs at 4.5 ghz.

Is there a noticeable difference in gaming when switching to 3.6 to a 4.5Ghz CPU?

I switched from 2.4 ghz to 3.1 ghz and I felt a big difference, not sure about moving from a 3.6 to 4.5.

The i5 8600k is much newer than the i7 7700k as it is 8th gen and far superior to 7th gen which was last years model. Not only that but the i5 8600k outperforms almost the i7 7700k in most aspects especially in overclocking. Not to mention the z370 motherboards are way better and the old z270s. Even though by technicality out of the box the i7 is "faster" the i5 outperforms it in almost all benchmarks and it is WAY more efficient and it is hexa-core compared to quad-core.

CPU Ghz shouldn't effect gaming anywhere remotely close to how the GPU effects it. You can have a barely 2.0ghz cpu and it wouldn't bottleneck even a 1080ti gpu. You may notice a difference in overall pc speed when changing ghz but for gaming the GPU is where it is at.

Well thanks to my i7 7700k (and 32 gb of ram i bought cuz i had 2 slots left and i had OCD) i can play the star citizen 3.0 alpha, otherwise you can't even play that shit.

Has the netcode been fixed?? I run the solo Arena Commander perfectly fine at like 50-60 fps but in the PTU i used to get 10-15fps because the netcode was so shit

Only thing I can say is that the CPU does help some games like Rotmg and I'm sure you can attest to that. I went up like .7 GHz and Rotmg runs so much better.

This isn't really true for every game. For example PUBG is very CPU and GPU intense and if you have a 2 GHz CPU you would definitely bottleneck a 1080 ti.

I do agree that the 8600k is better than the 7700k because more applications are starting to utilize more cores efficiently.

This isn't really true to my knowledge. They are basically the same chipset but the z370 is exclusive to the 8th generation of CPUs.

A lot of the newer motherboards have more bells and whistles and I read on an article that they fixed like a few bugs the z270s had with them.

There are so many processors far superior to the i7 7700k that would be much better at playing a game like that. A lot of i9s and the new i7 will blow the 7700k out of the water not to mention the 8600k is better as well.

Well not for all games but a majority of the games it is like I said mainly GPU intensive so take it as you wish, pubg is one of the few exceptions that is popular.
8 th gen i5s are like the sweetspot, so happy about 6 cores/threads

waiting for i5 8500 to come out, currently running i5 7500

nice build, congrats

You're not kidding man, they match the older i7 processors if not outperform them & they won't break the bank. I am a huge fan of the i5 8600k. I may get the i7 8700k but for right now the i5 will work perfectly.

I know, these processors will only matter if the game is not optimized. An i7 7700k is more than enough and in some cases overkill.

Ofc these processors have a purpose but for gaming it might be a better idea to invest in a better gpu, ssd or whatever. CPU doesn't matter that much (ofc it matters)
