Should I upgrade my computer already?

Hello! Well, the title says it all. I am a gamer and a very active one and the question comes because there are many upcoming games that I would love to run at full graphics and I don't know if I should consider upgrading my computer or if I am alright with what I have right now.

Specs:

CPU: Intel i5 6600k
RAM: 16GB DDR4
GPU: Nvidia GTX 980Ti
Motherboard: Asus Z-170 Deluxe
PSU: Corsair 650W 80+ white

and I think that's pretty much the needed info right? lol

You ask this question while having an i5 6600k and a GTX 980 Ti?

No.

Most games will be optimised so you can easily run with your current gpu.

If you want to run at ultra for every game, just upgrade gpu

Well, I know it was kinda a silly question but, since the new Nvidia series is coming out I wanted to know if it was worth it to upgrade to it or just not yet. Thanks for taking your time to reply on my post.

Wait for the new series to come out and then buy a 1070 or 1080 because the price will drop

what resolution are you playing on? aka what monitor do you have?

also are you noticing any slowdowns in games or when doing other work? if the answer is no then no upgrade is needed

I am just having a few issues when live streaming (which I do a lot), I can't use x264 codec since my CPU would reach 100% doesn't matter what I play or do, I only can use Nvidia codec which uses GPU and I have to put the fans of the GPU at a high speed to avoid overheat, so it becomes kinda noisy lol. If I just play or do whatever without a live stream then everything works fine.

if youre streaming you will def highly take advantage or more cores, depending on how much you wanna spend i would either go for a 8700k or a r7 2700 as both are pretty good for streaming and gaming

It really depends if you want to run those games at maximum settings, but as of right now your card is quite sufficient to run most games on high and medium.

Not yet my friend. I would suggest you wait till NVIDIA releases the RTX 2070 and for intel to release their 9th gen processors and then you can go for it

Yeah, NVIDIA just announced the RTX 2070. It's not out yet though. Supposedly founder's edition is $699, but the other brands (asus, msi, etc) will start at $599, so go for it man. Your PSU is strong enough, and you can sell your current build to afford some of the new stuff.

Nvidia's new architecture Turing allows for real-time ray tracing in games and "up to 6x performance", so it might.

If you're playing in 1080p, I see no reason to upgrade for now.
