can i do this (empty box method 2.0 instore)
1. go to electronics store
2. buy computer
3. open it
4 replace it with paper or other contents to match weight and feel normal
5. reseal package like new
6. return resealed package to store with receipt for refund?

how realistic would this method be and what would my chances of failing be?
it's hit or miss but you're fucked if you get caught most likely. i returned a $700 projector to walmart the other day and the box was sealed and the girl didn't check but i have returned $60 printer there before and they opened the box up and pulled the printer out to look at it and everything
i dont think it's worth it if you get caught, especially for a high priced item like that

cant i just argue that i received it that way? maybe it was packed wrong from the factory or an employ stole it or maybe some one returned it like that
It's just impossible with your method lol

why? i can use a heatgun to reseal it and there is a cheap machine that could do games and dvds
Good Luck
This method will most likely not work
and i dont think its worth the risk

It really depends on the store, but I don't think you can do it with a computer because at that price most places will open the box to inspect it.
But it could work for smaller electronics. I have a shrink wrap set up (impulse sealer, heat gun, pof bags) and I've done this at Walmart for sub $400 electronics. But you have to be really good at re-shrink wrapping the items. I tried it with a $700 iPad once and almost got caught, lol, so don't go for high priced items. If they say they're going to open the box or it looks like they're going to open it just say you changed your mind.
From my experience:
-it is best to not pay in cash, use a prepaid gift card (the ones that look like debit/credit cards) because they're more likely to attempt to open the box if you paid with cash. DON'T use your real credit/debit card because they may be able to trace the item back to you.
-Make sure there are several other items on your receipt and not just the item your returning.
-They are more likely to try to open Apple items (but not airpods).
-Walmart is the easiest place to do this at. If it's an electronic item, return it after the electronics department closes(~7pm) or they may call an electronics associate up to inspect the item.
-Do not hit the same store too many times.
they will say you should of opened it in the store before you left
Why 2.0 why not 1.1? What is your reasoning in versioning methods?
I think it has a high possibility of working but mind you, it also has a huge risk as they can easily find out you are cheating them while also having you right there in the store.
When the first iphones came out people was doing this. Real customers had rocks inside there box from people returning the phone in stores
Definitely possible but you are in bad luck if they catch you, which they definitely will
