Upgrading CPU or MOBO+CPU?

Hello,
Got a cheap gaming PC which consists of: h110m-a, gtx 1050 ti, g4400 pentium, 8gb
obviously i sucked dk when buying the cpu so it bottlenecks everything else

now should I buy core i5-6500/7400? or should i get a b360m ds3h + core i3-8100? because my current motherboard supports only 6th/7th gen cpus and considering that the 8th gen i3 power is equal to or slighty above the i5 one.

i have little to no experience with that so would appreciate any ideas, thanks!

get the core i3, it is 4 cores which is fine for the gtx 1050, and you have the option later on to upgrade to the 6 core i5

I have the i5-6400. 3.3ghz and its in the 75th percentile for Intel processors.

Upgrade your Mobo, then upgrade you CPU and RAM.

Out of those def the new mobo + cpu

But you might wanna take a look at and with their ryzen cpus as they are great value

Get a good motheroard now that way you wont have a lot of trouble with it later. I would reccommend also getting that cpu upgrade next because a new motherboard will support lots of graphics cards and enough ram and storage to last you a long time.

upgrade mobo first, then get an i3. later on, get a ryzen instead, not an i5

wouldnt you be buying a new motherboard twice then? seems like a waste of money to me having to buy new stuff twice

its not like he needs quad sli or like 4sticks of 16GB ram

I just meant that if he decides to later on upgrade to something like 16 or 32 gb of 3000+ mhz ram he wont have an issue doing so.

16gb will run even on the lowest end motherboards
even 32gb will run fine

upgrade mobo first

You want to make sure you atleast have a decent CPU as if you want to upgrade your GPU down the line you will find yourself at a bottleneck
