Not bad at all man. Just keep on exploring. I got lazy sometimes, so i just use photoshop actions with this kind of effects.

I see what you were trying to do but if the flower was truly lit like you have it, there would be much more light everywhere, on her hair, on her shoulders, on her arms. You have it very centered on only her face and shirt. I think you also need to work with the heavy contrast by turning it down a bit. So I think adding some light rays, flares, and researching a bit more how light looks on certain surfaces etc, it'd be a gorgeous photo.

Good job though, keep working on it.

The light coming from the flower is an awesome idea! You should spread the light more evenly around her body. Lastly, this is just my opinion but the light is a bit harsh so i reccomend softening the edges a bit more.
