Local Gaming
So, I recently bought a gaming laptop (Asus G50VT X5) and am installing my steam games to play when I can. I already have a gaming rig, and I play most the games there but I want the laptop for when I'm away.

It really got me thinking-- what If a friend wanted to play black ops or team fortress 2 with me, but didn't have a steam? Could we both me logged onto mine and do a private match or both be playing? Anything like that? Obviously you can't. But I think that would be pretty nice.. something like that..

I know about how one person can be in offline mode and the other online but that doesn't really help, because in offline mode you can only do singleplayer.

Consoles can split screen and both go into online games why can't PC (steam) figure something out like that?

mainly because how would you control it ? you cant share the same keyboard?
@-ParagonRex-

One person on my laptop, me on my main computer?
You mean playing in LAN but with only 1 steam account
Isnt he able to make his own acc? TF2 is F2P..
Yeah TF2 is F2p now, but has some issues, might get lucky not to deal with them.
Apart that, if thats the game, create a new account and its done. If not, ask in Steam Forumns cuz I dunno, I stopped using steam to play
Yeah I forgot about TF2 being free but I'm talking about games that aren't free. And yes @Diminished That's what I mean.

Hm, once my friend was able to play Portal 2 on my acc altho i was online on it. Just logged out, he started the game, then logged in again. But no idea if that works for online games
Isn't LAN when someone has the same IP, and you play?
True. But thats the dinamic one right? Not the static one ( Note that I have no clue of hwhat Im saying though) Feel free to correct me.
I've always wondered this, too.
I suggest asking them people over at Steam.
I just fried my laptops mother board
@Nyan Yes
@Nico Nope won't work for online..
I'm not sure how what would work. But it would be nice if you could though. I'll try looking it up for you.
