BUT in personal experience, I use to use cheatengine all the time and never got a ban, so IMO it's safe to use.

PS: every time it runs it checks to see if theirs a new version, if so it will tell you.
If you run it and it says its incompatible with the current version of CS:S, just wait for an update.
