I have the "My Computer" and "Recycle Bin" and my desktop pretty much all. Everything I use is in quick launch.

I can't get rid of it.
I do like a clean desktop, and this is a 60GB SSD, I don't want shit to fill it up.

And well, actually the recycling bin won't take up anymore room than the OS takes up as long as you clean it out. The recycling bin is component of the OS.

Open Personalization by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Personalization.
2.
In the left pane, click Change desktop icons
To remove the Recycle Bin from the desktop, clear the Recycle Bin check box.
3.
Click OK.
