As I promised, here's the long-awaited distort tutorial.
Open the desired weapon's texture file.
Find a logo/render/whatever you want to be the focal point of your gun.
Place the logo onto the desired location, like so. Make sure to make a backup layer and hide it by clicking the eyeball on the layer palette next to the logo's layer.
Resize and place the logo at the desired location.
Go to your tools wherever you placed them, by default, they are on the left hand side of the screen.
Select the smudge tool. If it is not there, find where the tool would be and right click on whatever else is there. Then, select the smudge tool.
Click on the button circled in red.
Tick Shape Dynamics and either match or play with the settings until you reach a desired level.
Tick Scattering and either match or play with the settings until you reach a desired level.
Set the strength of the smudge tool to around 100%.
Duplicate the render layer.
Start smudging the render in random directions, making sure to evenly spread the smudging. Your end result should look like this:
Set the smudged layer to Vivid Light. Duplicate the layer.
Set the duplicated smudge layer to overlay and change the size of the smudging tool to a large size. Set the strength to around 15% and smudge the new layer so that a thin sort of fog is created over the entire distortion layer.
Your result should look something like this:
Unhide the backup layer and duplicate it once.
Set the first layer to Color Burn.
Set the second layer to Hard Light.
Then, right click on the second logo layer and go to blending options.
Apply the settings as shown, or tweak to your liking.
As I promised, here's the long-awaited distort tutorial.
This is very nice aero, very noob friendly as well. Some of my favorite things to do to mods is use the "Distortion" effect / Look. You have my Thank you dear friend.
You do know the Thank button is there for a reason but you dont encourage others to use it just because you think it should be used. He has the right to choose to use it or not and you shouldn't affect his decision. In other words dont tell others what to do when we know what we're doing
