❓ Cracked servers?

so if i get a server jar from minecraft.net and make a server , but change online to false in the server properties so any1 that i give the adress to can join , it means that my server is cracked? i got the cracked technic launcher and was trying to find out how to play on a server and people said you need a cracked server. all i did was download official tekkit server from their website, extracted into a folder on my desktop, edited the launch.bat to the one that bukkit uses but in the launch.bat you also have to change the line with craftbukkit.jar to tekkit.jar. then ran the server, everything loaded, i shut it off and then configured the server properties file (online=false), and also edited the bukkit properties file. then ran the server again and it loaded fine. then i used the cracked technic launcher, picked to lauch in tekkit mode, it asked my to upgrade and i did and when game started i just joined the server and played. everything worked well. is this the known way to do it? i might make a guide so other people know how to do it for themselves

back when i started playing minecraft on a cracked version 1.3.1 beta i tried making my first server. it took me a few hours to figure out the whole portfowarding dilema, but at the end it all worked out and i still have the same port forwarded and can run a server on that port anytime. i dont have to worry about hamachi or whatever
