De-extinction
Thoughts on the subject?

For anyone who doesn't know: scientists have been able to create embryos of certain extinct species and from there they can bring them to life (de-extinction)

It's been determined that it's impossible for dinosaurs but possibly one day they can de-extinct the woolly mammoth
i would believe it

gene splicing/ using closely related species alive today
That's one retarded idea you've got there.
No. They are extinct because they were not well enough adapted to the world and it's current state.

Retarded idea eh? Too bad for you because it's genius and they've already done it to a unique frog that went extinct in 1816.
and there's many other reasons why a species can go extinct other than that.

How is it to bad for me? I don't give two shits about a silly ass frog that lived about 2 centuries ago.
If it's dead it's dead - Just leave it be, I see no reason why this should even be attempted.

For scientific advancement you idiot. Gosh some people are so fucking dense.

That almost rustled my jimmies. I'm well aware of how science will move forward but as a final product there's little to no point to bring dead species back to life.

and that's where you're completely wrong.

So explain to me, what's the point of bringing something dead back to life?

I won't rustle your jimmies. I'll fucking rip them.

No there's still some point. It allows scientists to better understand the fundamentals of how that animal lived. It's not really bringing them "back to life", it's more like altering the genes of its descendants to give birth to its ancestors. This allows us to protect biodiversity and genetic diversity. Not only does this undo the harms that humans have done, it also restore ecosystems as certain animals that were extinct contribute a major role in how the ecosystem functions. Once then, we will be able to prevent any further extinctions.
Pointless IMO. We have no idea how an extinct species would react to a different environment. It could have devastating effects on the ecosystem.

That's a good point, but think about certain animals that go extinct in the future because of humans(poaching ,etc.). There's actually many good things that this can be used for like for example bringing life to other planets.
What you guys expect, this is science.
All i can see about this subject is more fruits and animals to kill for us.
Sounds interesting.
