    Computer Built -

I bought all the PC parts needed for my build and got the PC built at the local computer shop, problem is none of my 8 usb ports are working , even the front panels one. Did I order a defective motherboard ? I checked in and all cables seems to be connected at the right place. Would a PCI usb adapter fix the problem or should I return the motherboard ?

I checked the device manager and it says my drivers are working fine , but when I plug in my usb headset or any other usb powered hardware , nothing.

Don't know if it's the wrong section , but if it is move it please.
    Thanks.

Check if the USB ports that are directly on the motherboard are working, if not, the motherboard could be the cause, otherwise it could be a problem with the sockets on the motherboard or the usb ports themselves.

Where do I download that ? Manufacturer website or.. ?
@uhZylon , refer to above quotes.
As for the other question , if a frimware update won't fix the problem , will a PCI usb adapter fix the thing ?

    ]

Download them on the manufacturers website, and if you have it, install the drivers from the disc.
If this doesn't work, you might have a defect one. In that case you can get a new one at the store where you bought it.

Well if everything is connected okay, and that didn't work, than it is most likely a defect one and you should go back to the store

Just wondering , I checked the Mob again and there are severals 3 pins connectors marked as USBPWR1, USBPWR2 etc. Is there supposed to be cables connected in those 3 pins connectors ? If so , there are none.
I'll ask for a RMA since I ordered it from newegg.

Try un-installing the drivers and install the ones that came with the motherboard, I updated my drivers and they all stopped working so I had to downgrade

Take a picture of the connectors first and instal the software from the cd/dvd that came with your motherboard.
So we can get some conclusions.

Don't think so , but my motherboard didn't come with those 3 pins USBPWR connectors.

Sorry for the double post for some reason I can't edit it.

I'll take a picture later when I can.
