Do the USB port on the actual motherboard work?
I bought all the PC parts needed for my build and got the PC built at the local computer shop, problem is none of my 8 usb ports are working , even the front panels one. Did I order a defective motherboard ? I checked in and all cables seems to be connected at the right place. Would a PCI usb adapter fix the problem or should I return the motherboard ?
I checked the device manager and it says my drivers are working fine , but when I plug in my usb headset or any other usb powered hardware , nothing.
Don't know if it's the wrong section , but if it is move it please.
Thanks.
Maybe try to download a motherboard firmware update?
Check if the USB ports that are directly on the motherboard are working, if not, the motherboard could be the cause, otherwise it could be a problem with the sockets on the motherboard or the usb ports themselves.
No , none of them :/.
Where do I download that ? Manufacturer website or.. ?
@uhZylon , refer to above quotes.
As for the other question , if a frimware update won't fix the problem , will a PCI usb adapter fix the thing ?
Try un-installing the drivers and install the ones that came with the motherboard, I updated my drivers and they all stopped working so I had to downgrade
Take a picture of the connectors first and instal the software from the cd/dvd that came with your motherboard.
So we can get some conclusions.

Don't think so , but my motherboard didn't come with those 3 pins USBPWR connectors.
