Grid help.

Okay so I am trying to learn and start creating my own avatars sigs and wallpapers in photoshop. I have read quite a few tutrols watched some videos and googled but have not come up with an answer. In this video the guy has it set so everytime he creates a new images in photoshop it automatically splits or shows a 3x3 grid no matter the size. Watch this video and if you know how he does it please let me know.

go to preferences and under the grid's section set it to 3 divisions and gridlines every 100 (%), you can turn grids on under view or with [CTRL]+[ ' ]

I did 100 percent and 3 subdivsions and its 2x2

3 subdivisions means 2 gridlines seperating 3 squares each dimension. you might have hit 2 on accident?
