Not sure if this is the right sections for this (since I can't find some sort of Tech Support section) but I seriously need some help. My computer is not reading/recognizing my Ethernet cable when I plug it in. Before it used to glow a green light when it was plugged in, so it was normal but now I plug it in and there's no light whatsoever, not even an ember one to signal a problem. Anyways, I'm not really wanting to get it wiped since I have so many files on there and I don't want to take the time to transfer and/or lose some of my stuff.
Willing to pay for anyone to figure this problem and offer a resolution that will work to fix it.
My specs are (not sure if it'll help but it might):
The cable's not the issue, I have one hooked up to mines and another one hooked to my brother's computer which is one room over. So I switched mines and his, and now my cable is perfectly functional in his desktop while his also isn't working in mines (although it his was perfectly fine before I switched it).
Could be a socket problem or maybe a cable problem. Try the cable in another PC or port and see if it works. Also try to clean out the socket
Check the Device Manager to see if it's even being recognized.
Go download an older ethernet driver and try rolling back to a driver that will work. Very small chance the hardware on your MB went bad. Any recent lightning storms?
Blow in it, It fixes every Nintendo problem why not PC.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be under Network Adapters but it's not listed under there. Only VMare and my Wireless USB adapter.
Sounds like it might be dead, maybe buy a PCI Ethernet Adapter as a replacement for the one that's not functional.

Go to your mobo's manufacturers website and download the latest drivers, or older versions if they don't work.
Happened to my old laptop aswell
