[BETA] MPGH Embedded Chat

As you might have already noticed, we just opened our new embedded chat to everyone on mpgh. This is something that Dave and I have been working on for a few months.

There are some issues that we are already aware of that will be fixed in the future. (i.e. issues with emojis in the editor and issues with the chat on iPads). Now, if you find new issues, we would like to know what they are and how to reproduce them in order to fix them. When you find a new issue, please enter the related information here.

Mandatory information needed when entering an issue:

OS (with version): (i.e. Windows 10)
Browser (with version): (i.e. Chrome 60)
How to reproduce: (the more details, the better)

Please try to also add a picture or a GIF as they sometimes help more than words.

• There will be a standalone app in the future. This embedded chat won't let you open the chat windows in new tabs or windows.
• 1 on 1s will be added soon (hopefully).
• Some mpgh username colors won't be displayed in chat, that's normal. If you feel like your usergroup should have their username style in chat, contact Dave directly, do not post here.
• New channels will be added for different games or sections as chat gets more popularity. Don't ask for more channels in this thread. Contact Dave or me directly instead.

Please be respectful in the chat. It has the same rules as MPGH, abuse and violations will result in permaban on chat and/or MPGH. Have fun!


THIS THREAD IS FOR BUG REPORTS AND FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ONLY

Suggestions:
1. Option for sound when you are mentioned, but regular messages that do not pertain to you are muted. Currently if you mute then all sounds are muted including mentions.

2. Be able to remove your own custom emojis

3. Either blacklist the default emoji names from being allowed to be used in custom names or find a way to make longer custom names work. Ex: If I try to add a custom emoji with a shortcut of / / wink. Whenever I type it out or click on it it will only allow the default emoji.

4. Allow more previous messages to be seen when switching to a new page.

5. Custom emojis could be a premium perk. Or increased limit for premium members. Either or.

1 on 1 chat is already planned AFAIK, with offline messaging.

The chat is bumping up and down everytime I send a message. Dunno how it happened.

I don't have auto reconnect on but when I open in a new tab a link on MPGH it prompts me to auto reconnect and says I'm connected somewhere else, should also mention it's MPGH chat.

Chat should have an option to enable timestamps. Copy / paste of chat should always include timestamps.

Mentions to you should be a different background color, your mentions should be another color

Online users count should always be visible for a chat once it starts overflowing with users

/help context and /topic for reading the topic

Suggestion: Keep the chat tabs open as you move from page to page on MPGH, leaving the tabs open. Soundcloud is a good example of this, the bottom bar's state persists when you move from page to page.

Better yet, have it as an option so that people can choose what they like.

Another suggestion, have the usernames clickable and lead to the appropriate user's profile.

Edit: I just saw the "Auto reconnect to the chat when changing pages." I still think my suggestion is something that is more smooth, but the code needed for that might be complicated.

When tagging people, have suggest names above the box to help users instantly find their friend, So if you type "@a" peoples name with "a" will appear just like face book

Being able to click the name and access user profile from chat

Suggestion: Premium and above can create Chat Channels to invite friends with a maximum of 5 people in the channel.

Adding option for one to add a NICKNAME to players that will appear solely on their screen
Like your username Dave84311 maybe in the chat there is an option for players to change only on their screen that it appears as just Dave, so everything takes up less space

Make the Channels box smaller (resize width), so that you can move the chat box since it covers a little bit of the threads etc and it's annoying as fuck.

Suggestion: Edit / Remove Emotest

Suggestion: Support Emote packs
Users can prepare a set of emotes and put them into a zip and upload (share with others etc.)
It should unpack and import each of them

Suggestion: Remove the ability to upload custom emotes, stick to MPGH's emotes instead

Reasoning: I don't want to see the same gif of a stick man jerking off spammed over and over again

Suggestion: Ability to increase/decrease the volume of the message ping/m.ention ping

Reasoning: Don't want to turn off my sound completely nor turn off notifications for the chat while having music/game playing in background

Suggestion: Making 2 themes for the chat, normally called the light switch function, one light, one dark to help eyes in low lit rooms, etc could go hand and hand with a dark theme for MPGH

Suggestion: Make this an app available on the play store/apple store and monetize off it with ads. Premium members+ won't have ads on there app.

Not sure about that but I think it would be cool to have a legit app on my phone other than Skype where I can talk to people/customers. Also think about adding the feature to access a voice/video call like Skype has.

Feature suggestion: Compact left pane with only #general and #marketplace without the descriptions, in case we further add more channels. Like *******, kinda.
