Would this be considered cheating

Say you texted your girlfriend/boyfriend "hello" and they said "whats up" and you say that i don't want to see each other anymore because I started to resent you and even talking to you makes me boil with rage. You do this so you can have sex with someone else. Now, my question is would this be considered cheating.


I am not concerning if this is an asshole move but is it cheating (which in itself is an asshole move I guess)


I personally think as long as they respond that hello back, you can lay that I don't want to see you anymore and block them. No cheating no harm.

If you break up, have sex with someone else, then ask to get back together with that person then yeah that's pretty shitty. But if you break up with them and stay broken up, it's not cheating.

Yeah I think my whole reason to ask was because of "WE WERE ON A BREAK" I think ross was in the right. Break means they can see different people. However, I do agree that it is shitty if you look at the moral stance, which I don't have any ("sadly").

I don't like it when people say they can see other people on a break. You take a break at work, you still work there. You're just doing something else for the time being and then returning to it. Though the grounds of what a "break" mean should be discussed between the two parties but by default I think it should mean you're still in a relationship. Also if you're breaking up with someone to get with someone else, you're breaking up to prevent cheating, not to cheat. Though breaking up and then telling them it's because you resent them is one of the worst ways to do it.

Honestly I half assed this thread. However, I still think break should mean that you can see other people but than again if you ever think cheating is alright before even getting into a relationship, than you shouldn't be in one. For example, yours truely.

If you plan on getting back with her afterwards, you gotta consider how she'd feel to know you "broke up" with her just to have sex with someone else. Would she really want to go back into a relationship with someone who was eyeing someone else to the point of breaking up for sex.

IMO this falls under the gray area for cheating. Since you technically aren't together anymore at that point, you aren't really "cheating" but you've got the mindset of someone who is cheating.

tl;dr really depends on your reason for breaking up.

if you pause with the sole reason in mind to have sex with someone else and plan on getting back again then imo its still cheating in a way
