Only an idiot/ new music appreciator would compare rock and rap
they're two totally different things that are equal
all music is music and it's un-changeable but new music can be made by sprouting from different genre's.
Example:
Ska is Jazz/Reggae/Rock influence.

Let me explain how this all goes down already.

First off, rap is a solo act for the most part, while rock has bands.

Second, each genre has its own "Best".

Rock, well rock has a LOT, and i mean a LOT of "best".
-Metallica
-Ozzy
-Queen
-Aerosmith
-Kiss
-Megadeath
-Etc.(really i could list a lot, but you get it).

Rap, on the other hand has very little "best"
-Eminem
-Tupac
-50 cent
-Snoop Dog
-Honestly you can't even name half the amount compared to rock.

So for great rap artist, they simply fail in numbers.

Rock has screemo, yelling, some metal, pop/bitch rock, etc.

Rap has...........just about every mainstream hit.

Soulja boy, single handedly proved how much skill/effort it takes for you to get big.(Quite literally, he makes up rhymes that fail in comparison to nooby rappers).

Besides Eminem, most of the rap you hear on the radio is trash and ridiculously repetitive.

Music/instrumental wise, rap has less skill than almost any techno out there, while rock has legends that are born just from the amazing guitar play.

Lyric wise rap wins versus rock, simply because some rap is great simply from its lyrics.

Vocal talent wise, rock wins hands down. No one in the rap industry can really sing.

Now i truly like some rap artist(Tech N9NE, Eminem) but talent wise, the rap industry completely fails compared to rock.

And money wise too, the most important thing to remember. You see, rappers talk about having money and women, rock stars are the ones who actually have them.

Eminem is the only rap star I know of alive that is making enough to compare to some big rockstars out there.
