Steam/cod 6 help?

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone has a way of getting around the steam friends list instead of buying a steam game. would like to play with my mates but can't add them as i don't have any legit steam games. help would be much appreciated thanks.

buy a steam game,i should not get mw2 because there are no dedicated servers
didnt knew there arent dedicated servers on mw2 when i bought it
