Steam Error? Help pl0x?

Whenever I try to start up a game, it says:
In hl2.exe we have encountered a problem and it needs to close. We apologize for this inconvenience.
This is a rough translate of Dutch.
When I try to start up CS:S I get the same error.
When I looked in the CS:S map, I saw there was a HL2 map, and HL2.exe.
What does HL2 do in CS:S?

have you mixed any hacks or non steam files into your steam directory? i suggest a clean up of all valve games/steam and a fresh reinstallation.

I never used any hacks.
I got the steam account just thursday.

It did that to me just reinstall steam and it will work. I just got banned for hacking when I wasn't even hacking. Is there some one I can talk to about unbanning me?
