Well Your book will be a lot of help. Though it may be outdated if it's specifically paired with one IDE since these are updated every couple years or so.
I also recommend you download Dev-C++ as your first IDE. It's a lot easier to learn the basics, because it allows you yo compile small programs really fast. I wouldn't recommend using VS(Visual Studios) until you get into Windows Programming, because that's when its function suggestion lil' wizard thing will really help you out.
