They fucked up the order for Alternative Architect and it was meant for a Japanese audience anyways.

I started out where you started (the newer stuff) and I found it to be pretty entertaining.

Basically the new series Arise had 4 mini movies which were an hour long called borders. They wanted to port those into TV series so they split each border in half so it would be 30 min episodes, perfect for TV. Anyways for some reason, they decided to start in reverse and mix up the order so it doesn't make sense at all.

I urge you to try it again! Once you get into it, there's a whole lot more.

Start from:
Border 1
Border 2
Border 3
Border 4

after watching the first 2 episodes I found out that there are several So tomorrow i'm going to check on what order I should watch them and start over.

Start off with GITS: Arise

Watch Borders 1, 2, 3, and 4. That should keep you occupied for a few days.

The FPS is pretty good. I don't play it as much because its getting a bit easy for me.

Its on my "must see" list. It deserves nothing lower than a 10.
