CfosSpeed Network Packet Prioritizing Software

Hello MPGHians!

I've been hearing a lot of people complaining about 'lag' lately, so I figured I'd help out a little. Although, if you have problems with framerate, This Thread will be of more use to you. Otherwise, if you have bad pings or a shared internet connection, this is just what you need.

Description

CFosSpeed is software that does what decent NICs or routers should do: Prioritizing packets to help deliver more constant performance. If you have family, roommates, or other applications that hog up network resources, this will help you out a lot. If you install this on all of the computers on your network, you can finally surf and game while fairly distributing resources to the things that need it. You can prioritize for Bandwidth for browsing and downloading, or Ping when you need to game. You can also set up custom prioritization for specific programs and applications.

IMPORTANT: You must add Engine.exe to the Programs in order for it to get special treatment.
To shape for Ping, right click the icon

dow > Favor Ping
To revert back to Bandwidth, do the same.

This program does have a small bit of overhead when torrenting due to the mass number of connections, but any dual-core processor that isn't an Atom should be fine.

To close/open the status window, double click the icon in the status bar.
To keep it from showing on start-up, right click: window settings: NIC: uncheck Auto-open Auto-hide

This isn't really about computer "preformance". This is about network performance.

Even if you have an Intel 975 and 4 5870's with 24GB ram and 4 Intel G2's in Raid0, you're going to drop pings when your brother is downloading porn while you pwn noobs without a proper NIC or router to back you up.

Sounds great...but this only is effective if other users are using the same router you are, right?

It'll be pointless if it is only a single user connected while playing (or does wireless console like the Wii can be controlled by this program?).

If someone is online with a console, and you don't have the traffic wired through a computer that has this installed on it, there is no cooperation between them. However, if you do wire the router through a computer, then out to the gateway, it will work.

Edit:
This also controls multiple programs on the same computer. So even if you are the only person on the network, you can benefit from it. If something is bandwidth hungry, it will stay out of the way for something that requires low pings.

Nah, I just love computers and this proggy. It's a cheap alternative to a home server + k1 nic.

If this is relevant: the client you provided are not up to date. However, the same process can be applied if you install the recent version (I used the 64-bit version).

I got on into a few games with this installed, and I didn't really notice any differences [well now was a bad time to test, since there are some lag issue caused by the patch]. The only main thing in-game I've noted was that when another character touches mine, my screen no longer pauses [so I guess this wasn't a frame rate issue for me now lols].

The UI of the program itself is an okay, I would think a lot of people not familiar with computers will have some difficulties with all the functions that you can do with the program. The only thing I couldn't do was disable that little pop-up window that shows the graph of processes I think.

Overall, this program did show slight improvement in game play.
