💬 [Poll]VB 2008 VS. 2010[RC]
So I just downloaded VB 2010 Express Beta 2. As soon as you open it, you can tell it has a cleaner interface.
The Splash screen looks AMAZING, and everything in the program looks cleaner and easier.
I have not used it very much yet, but I heard that the code is a little bit simpler than in VB 2008.
I have yet to find some "great new features" but I like the new interface!

VB 2010:

VB 2008:

So, post your opinions on VB 2010!

If you found any Cool new features (from VB 2008), please post them, I would be happy to try them out, so would all us VB coders!

If anyone can confirm the slightly simpler code rumor, that would be great!
2010 is a great piece of software, it isn't really more feature rich, it is framework 4.0 that is more feature rich, however

A. Never Develop In A Beta or Release Canidate.
B. Framework 4.0 is beta and a bad idea for commercial developers (or anyone for that matter)
C. Visual Studio 2010 is no longer Beta , it's RC (release candidate) which is significantly different
haha thanks for the tips!!! and yeah i saw that RC, ill check it out..

but i hope 2010 gets released soon, I think .NET 4.0 will be great

(and i have .NET 4.0 on my computer right now and its workin great)

The average user won't notice a difference at all, I have 4.0 on a few test machines with 2010 RC, however, a developer working on extensive projects will notice Beta vs. RC. Vs Stable
ahh that makes sense. Im just learning VB right now so I probably wont see anything.

i hear you are the pro at VB around here so im gunna check out your tutorials, hopefully theyll help me more in learning cool stuff

thanks for the info!
Not a problem
Should i change over to 2010, i am at 2008 right now?
Don't change till post RC when express stable comes out. You can download it and play with it, but don't use it for releases.

Also , Even after framework 4.0 comes out, give it a month or so before you create releases using it, giving time for everyone to conform and "get with the program"
I am using Beta 2 and it has some problems. The most annoying one is that when you pause the program it opens a new tab named "No Symbols Found" and move to it.

Second, if you minimize it two times, its opacity is set to I think 30 - 40 %. To restore to original, resize it

And there's a fix in beta 2. When we pause the program in Beta 1, we were not able to edit the program, now we can.. great fix

Release Candidate is almost perfect, but still buggy, If you are going to bother to use the beta, download the RC Most errors are corrected
Hmm, link to RC download please
Ive had lots of issues with framework 4.0

so i dont use 2010.

You can choose the framework you design in, But regardless, I agree
