Bitcoin transaction fee

Not sure if I'm correct. Has the transaction fee increased recently? A few days ago I sent 1USD and had to pay like 0.5USD for the fee. Send 7.5USD had to pay nearly 1USD.Personally I have been using my GTX 1070 to mine when I'm at school/idle. I noticed that the money I gain increased from 1.7USD to 2.5USD per day. At maximum it even reached 3.3USD . Hope they could keep the fees down
