HTC U11 - Squeeze
I personally am a fan of the HTC line. They are aesthetic, high-quality, and well performed phones.

With the new HTC U11 coming out, they've introduced a new technology to the mobile phone. Squeeze, as ridiculous as it sounds.
The Squeeze technology is very interesting and I like the idea of it, bringing a more quick and easy responsive way to using your phone without the need of touching the screen. They've made it more interactive with voice as well, with the combination of voice and squeeze.

If you are interested here's the Announcement Event with full coverage of the new HTC U11:

What are your thought's about the HTC U11? Will you be buying this phone? Would you recommend a phone over the HTC U11?
Will there be an option to turn "Squeeze" off/on? I really do hope so. I feel like it's a bit overkill. Just press a button to turn it on/off for god sakes. Why do they have to try and "up" the competitors by putting this factor in? Imagine how many times you're just holding your phone and it turns on; causing power life to go to shit. Unless there's a certain amount of pressure you have to force onto the phone which I really hope they have implemented.
I'm at work right now so I could only skim through the video quickly. Could you clarify some things for me?

Are there pressure sensitive points throughout the edge of the phone that you can tie to various tasks and actions? Could you make a squeeze trigger a phone call or send a text? Or are the actions limited by HTC?

Also, I'm guessing it's going to come running Android 7.0?

I believe the middle-bottom sides of the phone are where you can squeeze, I believe the length of the squeeze triggers different actions. I assume these actions may be changed through settings, as shown in the multiple videos in the announcement they provided different examples of the use.

They showed that you can squeeze for a short press, a medium length press, and a long press.
They showed that you can use Google or Alexa voice commands and Squeeze together for different actions, though wasn't really in depth.
They showed that you can squeeze to open up your social media app like facebook, assuming that's able to be changed into other applications.
You can also squeeze to open up your camera, and squeeze to take a picture or video and I believe switch between front-facing to back-facing camera's.

Based on the information given, I'm lead to believe that you are able to customize how your Squeeze interacts with your phone as their main focus for this model was User interaction.

The phone comes as Android 7.1 with HTC Sense.

The phone is meant to be squeezed, so light pressure won't set it off. That'd make it impossible to put into your pocket or even possibly a case.
Squeezing for different lengths of time will give different interactions, squeezing is for ease of access. It shows in the video how he interacts with the squeeze technology and you can see the pressure he puts into it, it's not too firm and it's not too light. The phone will still be used mainly like any other phone.

Using it for the camera seems useful! I always have a hard time using one hand to take photos/selfies and hit the shutter button. Thanks for all the info man! I'll read up about it more when I get home as I'm genuinely intrigued!

Yeah, it's quite the fascinating phone. Another thing I love about HTC, the put a lot of work into their speakers/sound technology and camera's.

In fact the HTC U11 has the highest rated Camera of tested phones in the market, via DxOMark (https://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/HTC-...DxOMark-leader).
an attempt to innovate but I feel like I'd never use this feature. I won't buy this.
@ @Elocrypt. interesting but your avatar seems more interested don't know why
Its cool I guess
Reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy series.
Looks like an iPhone smashed with a Samsung Galaxy series, surprised that they removed the headphone jack and no one even cares.
