Can you code?

Do you know how to code? Not like myspace coding 😂😂😂 or gamer codes. I mean like a code inside a barcode code. I am looking to learn how to code. I own my own small business. I want to make some 3d barcodes for my clients. But I want to code the amount item expiration date ECT. Like to start, what software to I need to decode and recode a barode? How much is it? Do I need credentials to obtain this software? Anything I should or shouldn't do or know? Thanks in advance for answering
