A successful mindset.
So, I'd love to have a discussion with the members of MPGH about the mindset of someone who's starting to take the path of a developer.

I've seen plenty of people ask about "how much time does it take to learn C++" all the way to-- "how much time does it take to master C++", etc.
Now I've always been a big guy on mindsets and the right mindset when you want to start learning something. I've always been a big fan of the good "just do it", really. I think the most important part is actually doing instead of asking and asking- while in the end, it's just his or her opinion. Do it, and see for yourself.

What do you guys think about this? A word you wanna say to those beginning into being a programmer?

Thanks in advance.
The most People, especially which are asking here, don't understand already what we talk about, because they want to learn C++ cause of Game Hacking and if you want to do that, i'm totally fine with it, but you have to know some things then, because the Language itself is already pretty "useless".
Nobody who knows C++ and another high Language would use C++ for creating a Form Application today in C++ for example. So it will mostly not really help you in a further Way. Beside that, it's some more difficult to get familour with C++ if you only know another High Language because of Pointer arithmetics and you basicly need a fundamental understandment of, how the Datatypes are stored in Memory and if that wouldn't be enough already, you have to Clean Up by yourself, the most horrible Sczenario of every High Language Developer. The core of a Game Hacker / Reverse Engeneer is the Reverse Engeneering and not the programming part, so C++ is only your Tool to make it even possible without learning or even using raw Assembly Instructions for it.
I agree with Mike, if you're going to pick up C++ JUST for gamehacking, don't bother learning how to code. Google your way around, copy paste but try to understand what you are copy/pasting. If you're considering a career in programming, don't pick up C++. There is little demand for C++, especially around the junior/entry level. You're much better off picking up C# or Java.

Also, if you're starting out, please do pick up a good book on the language you're studying. Video tutorials are not the best way to learn how to program, it feels good for 10 minutes when you copy what the video did and it works, but actually learning the language from a book or ebook is way more satisfying, as YOU have to figure out the logic behind what the book's assignments ask from you.
I recommend Java. I started learning C++ but then i saw that i don't need it for my Career later on. So i just learned the Basics of C++ and now i picked up C# and Java.
