FSoD adding items on dat1.xml

So i added my item and also one enemy xmls in the dat1.xml and i used a bunch of tutorials and i just cant get anything to work by that i mean when i paste in my dat1.xml into the ghost ship binary thing and replace it in my client when i try to open my client it just gets stuck on black screen any ideas why?

place the enemy/item xml into addition.xml?

If i were to place enemy xml into additions then i would be stuck on nexus since it is too much for the server that is why i need to switch to dat1.xml
