If you're talking about the problem with XP, don't fool yourself. It's endemic to every XP version, and no coder can apparently be arsed to make their D3D hacks work for us obsolete people. Either can't, because they aren't skilled enough, or won't, because they've got better things to do. (read: browse 4ch an, watch porn, do homework.) Which makes a guy want to code his own hacks, but since the majority of people here obviously are too lazy, we let them, then bitch at them for always managing to fail at having no life.

Good idea: get a source code and make your own. Not that hard to find some damn addies, trust me.

The difference between XP and Windows 7 is negligible, almost non-existent. Sure, you get to be denied access to your own files and processes and drives and have to go through the equivalent of a bureaucracy to get anything done (It's not a bug, it's a feature!), but those aren't compelling enough to make me give up XP completely.
I personally have dual boot, but my Vista got partially magnetized and I keep putting off backing up whatever's not corrupted of the almost 1 TB then formatting then reinstalling, especially when XP is enabling my laziness.

i have xp becuase my computer is old.. maybe not everyone has mommy to buy a new one. or maybe some of us pay bills... i have windows vista on a separate harddrive but vista sucks
