refund question

I mean sure you can proceed to do that. But It'll look very weird as you first claimed that you didn't have the items you want to return. So if they see a return request they might question it. It doesn't to try and if they decline/ask questions about it, explain your roommate had it without telling you and that he forgot about it. Apologize and move on. It's not like they will decline a return just because you claimed not to have it beforehand and then found it.. lol

Can you let us know if you initiated the refund, and how it went?

This depends on the store, I know for a fact that certain stores will notice that it was reported as lost when you return without notice. so I would recommend contacting them no matter the store.
