[Help]Learning VB

hi i rather new to vb and i was wondering where is a good place to learn it ??

Read a book about vb if you are serious.

1) Book
2) Tutorials

If you get stuck somewhere, come back and we will help you.

what book(s) would you say are usefull ?

I unfortunately only know a German one. therefore I cannot help you in this case.

Try youtube.
Start off with some basic stuff, and once you know a little about the syntax ( grammar/vocab) then try to start some more advanced stuff and see if you can understand the codes.

I think learning from books is rather temperamental, unless it is exceptionally well explained and includes practical introductions.
If you're going to go for the book, i'd recommend the Visual Basics for Dummies series. They are well explained, include in-depth detail and provide you with examples of projects to experiment with.

i would advice to start with console to get used to the syntax.. but w/e.. no one ever does that

They only make you understand a little bit of the code but very basic.
Try learning from tutorials.
When you'll use a book it's mostly to look something up.

books only teach the "very basic" stuff? wtf? what world you live at? Books > internet

Books = Pro.
You start with anything you feel comfortable with, you can't force him to start with anything.

Remember, try anything you're comfortable with, if you feel its too hard, don't push yourself, take it easy and slow and go with things that you feel you can build on and understand.

I mean, i was really enthusiastic when i started and the first thing i learned to code was to make a progress bar increment.
Pretty simple stuff, only a few lines of code, but it helps you nevertheless.

So... there are NO book that are IN ENGLISH anyone can recommend?

There are probably a lot very well books to learn with, only >I< dno one. Pm NextGen, he will know.

im gunna look up a book on amazon and download it but ill learn with youtube first

oh one more thing how would i make a custom gui for an app
