Custom scope help

hey guys I have been trying to make my own custom scope for about 5 hours now and I always get an error when I load iw4mp.exe

This is what i do.
I change the original scope_overlay_m40a3_1024#0.iwi into DDS then open it in photoshop elements 8.0, using alpha channel make my changes to it. Then save it as scope_overlay_m40a3_1024#0.DDS with ***5 argb 8bpp interpolated alpha. Then change that into IWI and it IS the same size and the modified dds. I then open the modified iwi in HXD and also the original iwi and copy the first two lines rom original into modified one and also elete the last four bytes.
The I fix the crc32 then put it into iw_04 and try and play it.

What am I doing wrong?
