As long as your heart and your brain are still intact, and are undamaged, you will live through being ripped in half. There are people who are like that... They don't have a bottom half. I think you need to keep some parts of your lower half too, you know (actually depends what you define as lower half - you could live without your legs and that's about as much as you can lose)?
