Some of the (good) intels use 32nm transistors.

I'm not leaning towards either side though. AMD is where the best deals are at the moment. But Intel has the best motherboard support.

Cables all over the place.
I would say you should try cable managing a little.
It get's over heated a lot when it looks like a mess.
