Baseband is for unlocking, not jailbreaking.

I haven't tried (though someone has been asking for a few weeks now fo me to attempt it)
But from the research I have done, 4.1 (from a upgrade) can be jailbroken (if you can preserve the baseband) But devices with 4.1 , Not yet. (though Dev Team is working on something)
So it really depends on your situation.
