That thing where you can drag and drop .txt files onto notepad and it opens up.
Looks good, improve the GUI for the next release.

I agree. Spice it up a little.

TextArea.Text += " January"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "2" Then
TextArea.Text += " February"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "3" Then
TextArea.Text += " March"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "4" Then
TextArea.Text += " April"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "5" Then
TextArea.Text += " May"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "6" Then
TextArea.Text += " June"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "7" Then
TextArea.Text += " July"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "8" Then
TextArea.Text += " August"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "9" Then
TextArea.Text += " September"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "10" Then
TextArea.Text += " October"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "11" Then
TextArea.Text += " November"
TextBox2.Clear()
Else
If TextBox2.Text = "12" Then
TextArea.Text += " December"
TextBox2.Clear()
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
Shortened to:
Dim month as integer
If Integer.TryParse(TextBox2.Text, month) Then
TextArea.Text &= " " & MonthName(month)
TextBox2.Clear
End If
And this:
If TextBox1.Text = "1" Then
TextArea.Text += " Monday"
TextBox1.Clear()
Else
If TextBox1.Text = "2" Then
TextArea.Text += " Tuesday"
TextBox1.Clear()
Else
If TextBox1.Text = "3" Then
TextArea.Text += " Wednesday"
TextBox1.Clear()
Else
If TextBox1.Text = "4" Then
TextArea.Text += " Thursday"
TextBox1.Clear()
Else
If TextBox1.Text = "5" Then
TextArea.Text += " Friday"
TextBox1.Clear()
Else
If TextBox1.Text = "6" Then
TextArea.Text += " Saturday"
TextBox1.Clear()
Else
If TextBox1.Text = "7" Then
TextArea.Text += " Sunday"
TextBox1.Clear()
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
End If
Could be shortened to:
Dim day As Integer
If Integer.TryParse(TextBox1.Text, day) Then
Dim dayList As New List(Of String)(New String() {"Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday", "Saturday", "Sunday"})
TextArea.Text &= " " & dayList(day - 1)
TextBox1.Clear()
End If
But overall it's looking fairly good. Nice work.
Yeah but the problem with doing that is bragging rights. The more lines of code = the more beast you are in real life >

Actually, in the programming world, less lines of code means more beast.

Usually CS teachers mark you better for less code.

Less lines is good sometimes, but not if it sacrifices readability. It's fine when you write it, but if you come back a month later to re-work it, it's confusing as fuck. In this case, it was repetitive code, so it could be shortened.

@Physcadelic, I wouldn't want to brag about an "If pyramid"

For me I when i look at old codes.. I kno what it does but in my mind i am mentally ready to read a lot of code.. For each, While GoTo SECTION2

I hate a lot of code
If anything, I would want more lines of code, it would make me feel like a better coder. /yea

stole my post D:<
Totally new to VB Thanks for the advice
You too Jason
Okay well the drag and drop is a awesome idea, I will add it....I think it looks good...what else could I do to make it a better GUI? Would you like the option to pick your own colors for everything then on close it saves the background color? I could do that...
Use Telerik controls, they're quite good.

They also give you the option to change the theme of the whole project.
hm...hovering over all the toolstrip items gives you the tag "toolstripbutton1" and "toolstripbutton2" etc. Remove the tags
