Avatar Question...

I can't put a gif image as my avatar, is this a error or is that just not allowed?

That should be possible afaik, yes

there's a limited file size and dimension that you can have

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 175 by 200 pixels or 488.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

That's for Level 2.

Your gif image is too big so mpgh decreases the size automatically and it isn't gif no more so use a gif image resizer to resize it then use it.
