If I am getting McAfee free from my internet provider should I download it?

Never tried it. But avira is good.

Avira/Kaspersky are the best, but that's because they're the most aggressive. Expect mondo false positives.

Go for AVAST! anti virus, it's also free.

AVG for all the cool features.
