Where do they hire these people? Really? It seems that he is really good at bull. I see a lot a people these day bragging about making a game or programming something awesome but they never do it.

It seems like now a days you have to bull your way in and act like you're the man to get a job.
Lolol, this guy litteratly told me he was the best coder ever, i'm done with this company... Hope they find a better coder than him soon :/ Seriously.

P.S. Lolol Jason he doesn't even know what a coding convention is... I talked to him about setting up a convention so that i could find easier where he starts and ends his methods, but he was like"... wat?"
Oh god. Those people always exist. If I ever find that I am working with someone like that, I will immediately quit the position, no matter how good (unless I can get him sacked). My sanity is worth more than a bit of reputation and/or money.

And chyeah, let's get some shit done (IM) :3

It's arguably even more important for startups to find good developers, otherwise they're screwed dead - they won't be able to make anything worth selling with a bad team, let alone continue.

Importance and funding sometimes have sex and give birth to compromise

That's not compromise, that's plain distopia.

Sigh, don't worry about it.

To discuss a topic.
I know and met way too many. Most of them are all talk. You can tell they spit out bull because you actually have done it before and they haven't.

I really love it when somebody says "oh that's easy!" when they haven't even done it yet and you have.

@#$@%@#$@#$@:
LOL Okay i left. But i think i made him realize that he needs to change the way he thinks about coding...
Alright, it's been couple of months since this thread was last written and I am "bumping" this thread because I am having the same problem as cfsharp. This guy at my work, is cocky, lazy bastard that can't code for shit. He copy and paste code for the internet and turns it into redundant shit, wrapped around shit with shit sauce on top. I have to go back and redo the project that was assigned to him, while he looks at his finger nails and washes his face constantly. I want to rip up his Computer Science Degree because he doesn't even know how to program, just fucken copy and paste off the internet.
Is this what these "Software Engineering" is like in the real world? Full of shitty wanna be programming who aren't qualified for the job and are too stubborn to learn how the boss want it or how it's suppose to work.

Unfortunately yep :\ Which is probably the fault of education... All of the schools I've looked at so far allow you to do Software Engineering without ever having had Maths or ICT >_> IMO They should only allow you to join if you have some prior experience with any programming language and have to do some entry project to show your capabilities..

Around where I live, to become a computer engineer (which you can then specialise in Software Engineering) this is what it says:
To become a computer engineer you usually have to study electronic, computer, computer systems or software engineering at university. To get into these courses you usually need to gain your VCE. Prerequisite subjects, or assumed knowledge, in one or more of English, chemistry, physics, physical sciences and mathematics are normally required. A number of universities in Australia offer degrees in these areas. Universities have different prerequisites and some have flexible entry requirements or offer external study. Contact the universities you are interested in for more information as requirements may change.
