Use the filter you used on the 1st one on the 2nd one, but this time don't include the render in the filter.

top. nice colors

bottum, bg is a complementary background to the red in the render

i like the bottom one better, megaman ftw.

try adding effects to the brushes and shapes that you have added

Effects like?

Motions blurs, brush strokes.... any filters that would match well. Try some out.

motion blur on brush?

noobz's style? pretty cool try adding filters to your brushes. and blending options and try some clipping masks.

What do clipping masks do?

just try it itll let you cut out the picture like the brush and you can show whats behind the applied image in the form the brush was.
