Looks really good, is it something that I should have played the first one (XIII) to understand?

The one with Vaan and Penelope is Final Fantasy XII, I haven't played much of that to be honest.
Only reason why I would buy PS3.

Why not give it a name instead of a number though, or even call it an expansion? I liked FF don't get me wrong, but... idk... It just seems odd to me.

I prefer the old battle system for Final Fantasy, the one that is featured in like FF7 and others, it's just creates more of a "Final Fantas"y feeling to the game.
Nobody can comprehend how much I like Final Fantasy.
I still haven't completed FFXIII because when I got to the end, I deleted all of the save data on my PS3 by accident.

loved the final fantasy games 
but then i switched to xbox and i lost a few loved games 
if only they had halo for ps3 i would never go back!
