Right. I figured "external program" meant some hack loader or something. Just check what you've been installing the last few days and look for any suspicious programs...
Tried already to use SmartClose?
i bet u used a hack or hack loader earlier try deleting that then delete the contents of ur cf folder and reinstall.
Still not solved, huh? Tough nut to crack.

Download CCleaner and clean all history, cookies and most importantly, registry.
Delete all the old and new hacks from your PC

i just ran the ccleaner and still no fix....

i do not have any hacks on the pc

Was about to mention something like this.
Scan your entire PC for viruses, see if anything may be infecting your crossfire folder and/or anything else that may be affecting the installation.
