Getting a desktop

So my parents are helping me buy a new desktop, and I'm looking for a few suggestions.

I've decided that I can spend about $1,000.

What do ya got?

hmm.. im not sure about the desktops, but i know that the hp laptops are pretty common..
but i can look up the latest desktops for you.. and the ratings..

Build it .

AMD based Hardware my sudgestions...
Buy either the new Bulldog APU( havent gotten one myself so i dont know how they behave=
Or buy a sandy bridge core...
For the GPU i advice Powercolor Radeon 6870x2(its dual cored model very powerfull NVIDIA SUCKS)
And for Ram 2 kits of gskill ripjaws 2x2 at 2200 mhz should be good..
And that would only cost 700 max 800 depending on your box/cooler/psu....
