People read from right to left, despite what tells them where to "look". Your brain processes that there's still more of the image from what is seen through your peripherals.
Image tells me look left, why would I do that? There's more to the image and curiosity is a human characteristic, so it will be explored. Doesn't make sense putting a "you failed". It does take time for the brain to process things, here's it dissected.
1 - You see text, so you continue to look further
2 - your brain is processing it
3 - you realize what the image is trying to tell you/make you do.
4 - confusion overwhelms
The average human brain takes approx. 0.05-1.5 seconds to process information, determined on the complexity and sometimes the speed of the environment in certain situations.
I disagree. It is that realization that people find interesting. Just because something can be rationalized doesn't mean it doesn't have a point. Sort of like the picture below, sure you can explain why the human mind does that, but that doesn't make it not interesting. Take this image for example. The tiles marked A and B are of the same color. The reason it appears that way is because it's created to make your mind think that there is a shadow making the tile appear darker than it actually is, when it's really as dark as the A-marked tile. I find the functions of the human mind endlessly fascinating.

How is that a test?
That doesn't make him mad, that makes him smart. You're one of the people who didn't understand what it was testing, when he just explained it above you. You're now part of a statistic
You guys are idiots.
