Okay so i've gained on a few pounds from not doing soccer this year. I'm thinking about working out over the winter/spring to get back in shape to play next season. The team needs a forward and want me to do it.
Thinking about doing the Insanity Workout. Friends have been doing it for a week now. They said it's hell but it's giving results. Should I try this? Or do the traditional run a few miles of day type of thing?

Depends, if you wanna get EXTREME RESULTS and rape the fuck outta err'ybody in soccer next year do the insanity workout, but if you just wanna lose some pounds i would just do the running.
I just remembered. Since you're exceptional in running, I suggest you look in to this.
Also, do it. Insanity is sexy. I wish I went there, but I guess I'll appreciate my 24 Hour Fitness membership.

10 minutes of weight lifting has the same effect as 30 minutes of running.
If I were you I would do a mix of weight lifting and running. I haven't tried the insanity workout, so I can't say anything about it.
You could run and wear weighted clothes, I used to do that for endurance.
Just run a few miles a day and life weights for like an hour after school.
