Doubtful. Just regulated extremely to the point where copyrighted videos or certain imagery can't be shared.
If those places were to get shut down I'm sure it would only be temporary.

Some popular sites like Reddit, Wikipedia, Xda-developers are planning to protest this Wednesday by doing site blackouts.
The most awesome way to explain SOPA:

Seriously, worth watching, even if you think you know the basic concept.

Thanks bro, 4 min in and I like what I hear.
It means no more good free porn.
Lol Google wouldn't let that happen. With the amounts of money they make, they can't afford to have some shit like that happen. I don't think it'll be passed if it were to shut down some of the most popular sites down. Fuck that shit. These nig's crazy.
It won't shut down Google / Facebook / Etc, nor will everything be monitored that you post. I'm pretty sure .COM/.NET/.ORG domains are exempt from it, because they are already owned by the USA.

It won't shutdown any site, per se. It shuts down American traffic to those sites and American advertising companies from putting ads, which in some cases can kill a site. It is essentially acts like a school proxy and blocks outside access to it (of course there are ways to get around it).

But it got shelved, which may or not be permanently, but we still got to battle the lesser evil one PIPA coming up soon. Some sites are going up in protest on the 18th, I believe MPGH will also be shutting down to join them.

--------------------------

If you feel so strongly against it, write to your congressman. I haven't yet. I'll be waiting till MPGH is down, hopefully we will have a splash page showing how to contact your congressman with a pre-written letter. I'll coordinate that with Dave tomorrow.

The white house seems to be going against it too, so we might have luck on our side this time around. Hopefully no scumbag supporter gets the nominee for this years election.

sopa is the first few steps to Communism. so much for the red scare, it seems like the Us wants Communism now

i really dont believe that this will ever pass... but if it does... that means some people get to test out real hacking skills

Sites you browse daily, could be blocked.
Email providers may be forced to censor certain links you send or receive.
The links you share on social networks such as facebook will be closely monitored and possibly censored.
This basically explains it
