is it possible to disable the sound effects like rain, wind etc..?

You could replace the sound files with empty sound files. A lot like texture modding.

Yeah ive been thinking about that also, but where are the sound files?
and btw why isnt this legit? you mean that u can get a VAC ban for it right, its just removing/replacing some files o.o

I just said "not legit" because there is no official dvar or anything to change it. It's not meant to be done. Use WinRar to look in the IWD_## files. They are in one of those. You can play them without unzipping through WinRar. In MW2 i experienced that it wasn't to hard to find sound files. I'm sure you can find it if you spend some time.
Well i found some in the main folder iw_11 - iw_22
found fire and dropping rock and wood sound etc.. i deleted them and started a game but i still hear the sounds
so i replaced them with an empty sound file and then started a new game but also still heared the sounds
anyone has an idea?

Nope,
i checked everything there are only sound files in iw_11 to iw_22
and localized_english_iw## but that are only voices.
I really would love to remove the sound like those annoying chickens etc..
but i think its not possible then O.o
unless someone has an other idea.
