Hey guys, I'm gonna join the british army once I'm done studieng so I can prepare for the special forces and join the SAS.
Does anyone know how much you OFFICIALLY earn in the army/SAS?
Thanks guys!
I'm not understanding your question .
@NoxchiBorz
As of 2001, it was recorded in the Guardian that SAS soldiers earned between £25,000 and £80,000 per annum, depending upon special skills and allowances. A private in any conventional army regiment earned a basic £13,000. Until 1980, SAS pay was little more than the basic, but it was raised in that year in order to retain skilled soldiers that might otherwise be tempted by the very lucrative private sector, where skilled ex-soldiers are in high demand. The truth is that although the SAS pay scales are higher than standard infantry, accepting a lower rank in the SAS than in their previous regiment means that some SAS soldiers may take pay cuts to become the best in the world. Joining the SAS is a good and brave choice. Oh and btw i don't know later than 2001.
Oh and btw, the SAS don't do it for the money.
Edit:
Oh and once you move to the SAS, you keep your normal soldier's pay untill maybe 2 years when you move to special forces pay.
(not sure about that either but i think it's true)
it all depends on your rank though etc after 2 years but accomodation and food is all paid for so its all pocket money!
Thats actually REALLY low imo for that incredibly risky job.
I don't care for the money, I'll live through it, but my father is murming about it.. O well, dreams come above money huh, thanks alot matey. Very usefull information.

I know I know, but still, its really really low. You have to put in INCREBIDLE effort to be recruited and or approved. Then you've got to train really hard, all that for 2000/month in the beginning. Thats not too satisfying..

That's true but keep in mind that that's info from 2001.
Hold up lemme see what i can dig up on the current pay.
I couldn't find anything but as you said, the pay's gonna be much higher now.
Besides you get some extra bucks if you do better than you're suppose to
If you are joining the army for the money, you are joining for all the wrong reasons.

I'm joining the army because I've dreamed of it since I was 4 years old, and an other special reason, but I don't want to mention that one. But you've got to have a life after the army right?
Interesting outlook. I don't have an answer, but good luck

In the army/SF, its not about the money.
Its either about fulfilling your dream or protecting/serving your country.
A lot more than normal jobs if you are going to Afganistan
