Desktop, budget about 1k-1,500 and I'm not building my own computer even though it will be better.
Building your computer and making one is not that much of an difference .
I built the same computer as my friend, but he just bought it. The difference was like 50 dollars . Not that much.

Shame, because that is by far the cheapest and best way. Newegg just put a Memorial day sale, there's a 8core cpu for 169. free shipping and you get a $15 dollar gift card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103961

Sames. And this way if something fucks up i just send that part in for repairs and replace it with an old spare or replace it
That's a fine deal.
Too bad I can't order from Newegg.
Bulldozer series are shit, but for that price; dayum.
I can't recommend anything unless you tell us your budget.
If you don't have a limit, and you intend on playing games on it (high req games), I recommend you build your own.

What do you mean if he can't tell you anything you can't recommend.
You're the one needing help as well.
I think building your own pc is cheaper, but:
i5 (or better) + geforce + sata3 motherboard with a small ssd for the os: really good combo, try to aim for the hybrid computers
