To anyone buying Lv.70 Karoks on East - be sure to get the name of the karok before buying because if it's STEROID2K, pull out bros.
I bought it a while back, Nico served as MM since nobody else was available. All the information had been changed over, but after a week of inactivity, I see him standing at the docks just a moment ago. I whispered him and naturally I received no response. Couldn't log into him, either - information had been changed.
It could be the original owner/infamous scammer, or it could have fallen victim to the recent "hackers" who somehow gain access to inactive accounts, or those without a crimson code. Admittedly, I didn't have a code set on him, which is a commonality for most recent hacking cases on official forums.
Regardless of how it happened, there's been many reports about STEROID2K in the past having scammed people. His aliases have been called out before on both here and official forums, quick Google searches will give you more information.
The only bright side is that I bought him with gold (600m) earned from botting so it's not like I actually lost cash money. Had this occurred after a Paypal transaction of $60, I'd be upset. Almost everything was bound to the account anyway.
So remember kids, set dem crimson codes & avoid STEROID2K.
Wow, I remember that. But I was pretty sure all information got changed...
Same thing happened to a couple of accts I bought on here as well. Apparently, there's a way to reset the acct even if all info got changed. I wish I knew how it's done but I don't. With these types of scam, it's impossible to avoid because the MM can't help you after transaction is over. I'm never buying another acct again unless it's from someone really trusted.
In case anyone is reading, blacklist the following ign's (or you'll regret buying these accts):
[East]Steroid2k
[West]Beepy
@Nico, is it possible to make a sticky thread of list of ign's linked to scammers so that people could avoid? Because I could see a lot more people getting scammed by this. Scammers offer the accts for really cheap then just recover the acct after the transaction.
You were an excellent middleman, you did everything you were supposed to. I hope I didn't sound like you were to blame for any of this. More than likely it was simply because I didn't set a crimson code.

You can reset the crimson code if you have all other info to the acct. I don't know how exactly but I guess if you email Nexon with all info, they will reset the code for ya so setting the code or not didn't really matter.

Yea, might be a good idea.
